Academic Search Complete
Academic Search Complete is a comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,300 full-text periodicals, including 4,400 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,300 journals and a total of 9,810 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. Full text coverage of information in: archaeology, area studies, astronomy, biology, chemistry, ethnic & multicultural studies, general science, geography, law, mathematics, music, physics, psychology, religion & theology, women's studies, and other fields. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1865, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for nearly 1,000 journals.
Britannica Online
Full-text of the Encyclopedia Britannica including photos, drawings, flags, biographies, and geographical articles. Also includes the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

LexisNexis Academic provides access to a vast array of general news, government and political news, foreign and international news services, country and biographical information, and state and federal court cases.
MLA International Bibliography, a database of citations to materials in literature, linguistics and languages. Good source for citations to articles on Spanish literature.
Essay and General Literature Index cites essays and articles contained in collections of essays and miscellaneous works published in the U.S., Great Britain, and Canada. Includes citations to many articles dealing with Latin American issues.
HLAS Online is the Handbook of Latin American Studies, a bibliography on Latin America consisting of works selected and annotated by scholars. Edited by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress, the multidisciplinary Handbook alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities.

by Johns Hopkins University Press and other university pressess. Includes
6 titles specific to Latin American Studies.
JSTOR is an archive of scholarly journals, including 5 Latin American Studies journals.
Current issues are not available through JSTOR; its role is an archive, with
new holdings added each year.
Columbia International Affairs Online publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 forward that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences.

netLibrary is a collection
of full-text electronic books that library users can search and read
over the Internet. Academic, reference, and scholarly books are included. Users
can search across the entire eBook collection for authors, titles, or keywords, and
they can search within books for keywords and phrases.
These materials are shared by people all over the state of Texas. For some titles, there may only be one copy, but for others there are several copies. Though it is not necessary for Austin College students, faculty or staff to set up their own account, this is an option discussed on the netLibrary website. It may also speed up your connection to the material.

Library of Congress Hispanic Reading Room provides resources relating the geographical areas of the Caribbean, Latin America, and Iberia; the indigenous cultures of those areas; and peoples throughout the world historically influenced by Luso-Hispanic heritage.
Latin American Studies Course Information
Various Style Manuals may be used in Latin American Studies, depending upon the aspect you are studying: history, literature, social sciences, etc. Check with your professor to determine which format you should use for a particular class. Select from a variety of Style Manuals online and on Reserve within the library.
