Social Explorer Social Explorer This is the free version of Oxford's premium e-resource by the same name. It is an online research tool designed to provide quick and easy access to modern and historical census data and demographic information. The easy-to-use web interface facilitates the creation of fast, intuitive, and illustrative maps and reports that aid visual analysis and understanding of demography and social change throughout history. The site currently includes data from the entire US Census from 1790 to 2000, all annual updates from the American Community Survey to 2008, original Census tract-level estimates for 2006 and 2007, the Religious Congregations and Membership Study from 1980 to 2000, and 2002 Carbon Emissions Data from the Vulcan Project. You can customize, save, print, and email maps and reports, and export them to a variety of programs and statistical packages for further analysis and use. This free version is scaled down from the subscription product, but you will still find access to hundreds of maps and reports.

A priority Open Government Initiative, increases the public's ability to easily find, download, and use datasets that are generated and held by the Federal Government. Descriptions of the Federal datasets are provided as well as information about how to access the datasets.
