The Circulation Desk is the place to go to borrow and return books and reserve materials; to inquire about materials missing from the shelves; to schedule a group study room; and to reserve a locker. Many professors reserve particular books and/or photocopied material important to their classes on shelves behind the Circulation Desk. Reserve videos and tapes are also located behind the Circulation Desk. Permanent reserves include style manuals used for writing papers. To place materials on reserve, please allow 48 hours for processing the materials (not counting weekends). To check out reserve material, you must have your own valid Austin College identification card.
Assistance in locating information or materials is available at the Reference and Information Service Desk on the main floor of the library or via the online Ask a Librarian form. Reference librarians advise on library research strategy, online searching, and interlibrary loan. Before beginning a large research project, either individually or with a small group, you may want to consult with a Reference librarian on strategy.Reference Desk Hours:

Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Our document delivery service is available to faculty and staff who wish to obtain copies of materials within Abell Library. You can request copies of journal articles or book chapters, or checkout a book. The copies or the book will be delivered to your mailbox or office. To initiate this service, complete a Document Delivery Request form (paper or electronic) and send it to the library. To obtain an electronic copy of the form, email Carolyn Vickrey at email@example.com. Paper copies of the request form can be picked up in the library or mailed to you.
Abell Library is a member of the TexShare libraries that have agreed to extend free reciprocal borrowing privileges to each other's faculty, students, and staff. Each library has specific rules and regulations regarding access to their materials, so check the Lending Policy of a particular library for policies, hours, and phone numbers before making your trip.
You must have a TexShare Library Card from your home institution BEFORE you are able to borrow materials from other institutions.
Apply for a free TexShare Library Card at the Circulation Desk. Student cards are valid for one semester and faculty cards for one academic year.
